9 Bidders for Mumbai – Ahmedabad HSR’s Package C8

Nine construction firms have submitted bids for the 2.127 km Package C-8 related to Sabarmati Depot of the 508.17 km Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project after National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL) opened bids today.

Package C8 of the main-line (chainage 507.599 to 509.726) within Ahmedabad is the shortest of 5 packages within Gujarat state and deals with civil, building & preparatory works at Sabarmati train maintenance depot which will be the largest among three depots (others will be at Surat and Thane) planned on this line for the inspection, maintenance and stabling of trainsets.

The depot will cover approximately 84 hectares and a notice inviting bids for constructing its workshop shed, inspection shed, office building, Operations & Control Centre (OCC), machinery & plants under Package D2 is currently pending.

NHSRCL invited tenders (bids) for its construction, financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in October 2020 with a completion period of 4 years. An official estimate hasn’t been published, but I hear it’s around Rs. 650 crore.

Good. Sadly, Maharashtra Govt. is not taking any interest on Bullet Train Project. God knows when the land will be fully acquired in Maharashtra for Bullet train. Now what I heard is that NHSRCL have approach IRFC to finance the Vapi to BKC Section of MAHSR. If things go well then Maharashtra Govt. won’t be required to pay a huge amount for the project. It looks like Central govt. wanted to give some relief to Maharashtra Govt. For Bullet Train Project. Hope Construction of Bullet Train will soon start in Maharashtra 😄

What is status of Chennai metro phase-2, Corridor-4 GC financial bid?

  3. Mayank says:

So L&T won’t be winning all 8 contracts haha

  4. Prajwal Krishna says:

What happened to P2 and P3 they were announced in 2019?

  5. Clevin Gomes says:

TMRG, I’ve heard that IRFC will finance the remaining part of the MAHSR from Vapi to Mumbai BKC. Does it mean that Central Govt. is wanted to provide some relief for Maharashtra Govt. for Bullet train Project?

    • TMRG says:

That news related to IRFC was related to the *possibility* of funding future lines or extensions (Delhi – Ahmedabad for example), and not the Maharashtra section of this line.

At this stage only initial talks have taken place. Nothing has been finalized.

  6. Clevin Gomes says:

How much platforms will have for HSR stations.
Such stns like Boisar, Vapi, Bharuch, Anand may have 2 platforms and 4 tracks to pass through the express train. But at some stns like BKC,Surat,Vadodara,Ahmedabad and Sabarmati Terminal will be important stns where both express and all stop trains will stop. So I think they may have 6 to 10 platforms. Did NHSRCL have mention anything on these?

  7. U says:

TMRG in this article from Times of India stated a sentence about Kolkata Metro Line 1’s extension opening
It told that that PM will inaugurate it on Monday
Most of the article is about police but one sentence clearly stated about the opening.
    Hope it helps
