MMRDA Invites Bids for Mumbai Metro Line-4’s Telecom Contract

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) today invited bids for the telecommunications contract for Mumbai Metro’s 32.32 km Line-4 and 2.88 km Line-4A (Green Line) which will connect Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh through 34 elevated stations.

This is the fourth significant systems contract for this line after the 234 coach rolling stock (won by Bombardier – now part of Alstom),  CBTC signaling and Head-Hardened Rails contracts.

The brief scope also includes work at a depot which likely refers to Mogharpada Depot. Bidding for its construction is still underway despite the MMRDA announcing plans to use a disputed land parcel at Kanjurmarg for an integrated multi-line depot.

With this development, it indicates that MMRDA is wanted to make the Depot for the Green Line at Mogarpada. And BTW, I clearly doubt that Kanjurmarg Depot can’t cope up with Green Line Trains, since it will already serve Aqua Line (Line 3) and Pink Line (Line 6). And even if they want to built at Kanjurmarg, how they can make a depot line for Green Line, since it is been occupied by encroachers. I think that they have drop a plan to make a Stabling yard at Wadala to park some of the trains at Kanjurmarg. TMRG, what’s ur opinion on this ?

I don’t know what’s cooking inside MMRDA, so can’t offer an insight into their ultimate plans. If we don’t see a tender notice for the yard at Wadala in the next year or so, then it won’t be developed at least in the short term.

What a coincidence both Line 3 of Kolkata and Mumbai face depot issue. Though everything went right for Kolkata. It took 6 yrs to solve the problem.
In arey depot so many trees have been cut already. Now neither humans nor animals of the national park will be using it
