SCC-VRS Wins Mumbai – Ahmedabad HSR’s Package C8

February 4, 2022 Update: SCC – VRS JV has received LOA for C8’s contract from NHSRCL.

April 28, 2021 Original Post: SCC-VRS JV today emerged as the lowest bidder among 4 for constructing the 2.127 km Package C-8 (Sabarmati Depot) of the 508.17 km Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project.

As explained yesterday, Package C8 of the main-line (chainage 507.599 to 509.726) within Ahmedabad is the shortest of 5 packages within Gujarat state. It deals with civil, building & preparatory works at the Sabarmati train maintenance depot which will be the largest among three depots (others will be at Surat and Thane) planned on this line for the inspection, maintenance and stabling of Shinkansen trainsets.

NHSRCL invited tenders (bids) for its construction, financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in October 2020 with a completion deadline of 4 years. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 9 bidders, and technical evaluation was completed on Tuesday in which 4 firms qualified.

An official estimate isn’t available. I’ll add it in when I become aware.

I’ve never heard of SCC Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd or their consortium partner (VRS), but both appear to be local Gujarat-based firms. Without NHSRCL’s estimate, it’s impossible to gauge how their bid is placed and the chances of a LOA getting issued.

With today’s development – here’s a status of each civil package of the bullet train project. This table is best viewed on a desktop.

U r right. But Maharashtra Govt. is not doing anything in Maharashtra side for Bullet Train Project. Also they didn’t even give a Penny for the project even for land Acquisition. Maharashtra Govt. should corporate with Central govt. And NHSRCL to sort out this issue and give money to the farmers who r willing to come forward to give land for Bullet Train Project bcoz it’s their right for them. Otherwise no one will give land to any project and they will loose Trust on Govt.
