NCC Casts Bangalore Metro Airport Line’s 1st Pile Cap

NCC Ltd. on Saturday poured concrete to cast the first pile cap of Bangalore Metro’s 37 km Airport Line (Blue Line) which will link Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to KR Puram.

This new metro line, under Bangalore Metro Phase 2B project, comprises of 3 civil packages ranging from 11 to 15 kms.

NCC was awarded 3 LOA contracts in November 2021 for 15 elevated stations & viaduct construction work, with completion deadlines ranging from 24 – 27 months. Their various teams began test piling and other pre-construction activities in January 2022 followed by piling for construction in February.

BMRCL will run the 7 trains (42 Bogies) which were made for Purple/Green Lines, by converting their components from DTG to CBTC in the Underframe and Control Panel. They already said this once..

March 2025 scheduled for completion, it is possible as there was no major land acquisition issues in this line, except the issue for construct a depo, as an alternative Biyyappanahalli depo can be utilize for operations for BIAL to Silk board line, until completion of shettygere depo dedicated for BIAL line operations and maintenance

I’m guessing realistically we’re looking at operations starting by late-2027. Anything before that will be an optimistic deadline, since not a single stretch so far has been completed on/before time by BMRCL. TMRG mentioned that due to construction practicalities, 2027 was his initial estimated year of opening. But now the work is slightly behind schedule so it may get pushed by a few months.
