Paras Begins Delhi Metro Magenta Line Extension’s Track Work
Paras Railtech this weekend started track-work activities for 65.10 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project‘s 2.03 km underground Magenta Line (Line-8) between Janakpuri West – Krishna Park Extension.
Following a puja, Paras Railtech commissioned their flash-butt welding machine at Krishna Park Extension Ramp (also known as Vikaspuri Ramp) to weld rails together prior to installation work.
This development comes as a surprise to me as bidding is currently underway for Line-8’s ballastless track work contract (Package DT-08) by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The current bid submission deadline is October 3, 2023.
Paras was awarded Pink Line / Line-7 extension’s track-work contract (Package DT-05) back in November 2022, so I’m inclined to believe the scope was modified to include Magenta Line’s 2.03 km underground section (Package DC-06) between Janakpuri West – Krishna Park Extension. Civil work here is in an advance stage after twin tunneling work was completed by HCC – VCCL JV’s Terratec tunnel boring machine (TBM) S86 “Triveni” in November 2022.
Delhi Metro Phase 4’s 2.03 km Package DC-06 will take 38.2 km Magenta Line deeper into West Delhi as part of the 28.92 km Janakpuri West – RK Ashram extension project which includes 2 underground (DC-05, DC-06) and 2 elevated (DC-01, DC-03R) civil packages .
Here are a few more snaps from DC-06’s Krishna Park Extension Ramp site:
