PINI Awarded Pune Metro Katraj Extension’s Design Consultant Contract DDC-02R

PINI India Pvt. Ltd. (PIPL) last week was awarded a Rs. 6.84 crore contract to provide Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) services for Pune Metro Purple Line‘s 5.46 km extension from Swargate to Katraj.

PINI’s scope for Package DDC-02R includes providing architectural, tunnel ventilation (TVS), subway environmental simulation (SES), environmental control system (ECS), building management system (BMS), electrical & mechanical (E&M) services and proof checking services for this southern extension of Line-1.

This entirely underground extension under Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension project or Phase 1A project will consist of 3 stations at Market Yard (Gultekdi), Saibaba Nagar & Katraj. It’s currently awaiting approval from the Central Government’s Public Investment Board (PIB).

MahaMetro had invited bids for its DDC service via Package DDC-02 in November 2023, cancelled the tender and re-invited bids under DDC-02R in December 2023 with a 60 month contract period. Technical bids were opened in January and five firms qualified to the next financial round.

Qualified Bidders (Recap)

  • ILF Consulting Engineers (India) Pvt. Ltd.
  • PINI India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Stup Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • SYSTRA MVA Consulting Pvt. Ltd.
  • TYPSA India Pvt. Ltd.

Financial bids were opened on March 6. I don’t have bid values submitted by each bidder. If someone reading this is aware then leave a comment below or shoot me a message using the Contact page. I’d like to add it in for documentation.

Final Contract Value: 6,84,70,000.00

MahaMetro’s Brief Scope: Appointment of Detail Design Consultant for Detail Design of Architectural and Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) including SES Simulation & CFD Simulation of Stations and Tunnel, Environmental Control System (ECS), Building Management System (BMS) & E&M Services and Proof Checking of Swargate to Katraj Corridor (Underground Corridor) of Pune Metro Rail Project.

With this encouraging development, I expect designs for civil construction to be ready in Q4 2024. If the Central Government’s approval and financing is in place by then, then we might see its construction tender notice getting published before the year ends.

On the northern-side of the Purple Line, MahaMetro in December 2023 finalized LKT Engineering as the DDC for its 4.5 km extension from PCMC to Nigdi (Package DDC-01) and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) as the civil construction contractor (Package C-01). We should see preliminary work start in May-June and full-fledged work after the monsoons end in September.

I think the second station you mentioned is wrong.. It should be Padmavati and not saibaba nagar.. They have altered the route.

That’s what was shown in the tender drawings.

We’ll know the station’s exact location only after civil construction tender notice is published. Sometimes locations change even after civil contract is awarded.

    Instead of SAIBABA

The Stop at Bharati Vidyapeeth may also be considered, to facilitate the travel ease for students, as the area have many educational institutions

Bharthi vidayeeth stop should be considered because of big educational institutions around also and considering the connectivity with other areas around.it would connect with areas like Balaji nagar,Sukhsagar nagar ,upper Indira Nagar and Bibwewadi.

One more station is required in Padmavati between Market Yard and Saibaba nagar. I do not know where is Saibaba nagar. It should be Shankar Maharaj Math. Padmavati will cover nearest areas viz. Bibvewadi, Sahakar nagar, Taljai Pathar, some part of Parvati area. Please consider Padmavati as an additional station.
