Mumbai Metro Line-4’s Track Work Begins at Majiwada
Apurvakriti Infrastructure on Saturday began track plinth casting work at Majiwada for Mumbai Metro’s 32.32 km Line-4 and 2.88 km Line-4A (Green Line) which will connect Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh through 34 elevated stations.
Apurvakriti is responsible for installing ballastless tracks from Package CA-161 at Line 4 & 4A’s 15.77 km northern section between Mulund Fire Station (Ch. 18929.611) and Gaimukh (Ch. 18929.611 M), including the siding track at Gaimukh Station.
The line’s viaduct & 15 stations en route here are under construction by TPL – CHEC JV (Package CA-11: Mulund Fire Station – Majiwada), Reliance – Astaldi JV (Package CA-12: Majiwada – Kasarvadavali) and J Kumar Infraprojects (Package CA-54: Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh).
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had awarded a Rs. 21.88 crore contract for CA-161 to Apurvakriti Infrastructure in September 2023 with a 2 year track installation deadline.
Bidding is underway for Line-4’s second track contract (Package CA-168) for ballastless track installation work between Bhakti Park (Wadala) and Mulund Fire Station. Technical bids for it are currently scheduled to open on September 25.
MMRDA had re-invited bids for Line-4’s 234 coach rolling stock & signaling contract (Package CA-234) in February 2024, and technical bids for it are currently scheduled to open on October 1.
Looking at the current progress and pending procurement of critical systems, at this point I see Mumbai’s Green Line opening for commercial operations no sooner than Q4 2027 which is a shame since civil contracts were awarded way back in March 2018.
A list of Mumbai Metro Green Line’s packages (civil & systems) and their status can be viewed here.

Are there any fresh updates on Line 4’s rolling stock bids?
Have there been any updates on Line 6 Pink line?
I have seen zero posts about it
Kab hoga yeh metro line -4. China me to 1 year me hi khatam ho jata
Why aren’t they connecting the green line to the original blue line (1)? Why the 500m gap between the current ghatkopar metro station and the 2 new ones on this line – what nonsensical planning!
