9 Bidders for Delhi Metro Golden Line’s Architectural Finishing Contract DC-09A

Nine firms have submitted bids to perform architectural finishing works at 4 new underground stations of Delhi Metro’s 23.622 km Golden Line (Line-10) which will connect Aerocity – Tughalakabad via 15 stations.

The 4 stations of contract DC-09A include Chhattarpur Station, Chhattarpur Mandir Station, IGNOU Station and Neb Sarai Station. Their construction work is currently being carried out by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as part of the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project’s 6.51 km underground Package DC-09 connecting Kishangarh Station – Saket Ramp.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for DC-09A with a 2 year deadline in June 2024 financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through a Rs. 8,390 crore loan. Technical bids were opened on September 25 to reveal 9 bidders.

Bidders

  • B. Rai Construction Company
  • Himcon Engineers India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Kamal and Associates Pvt. Ltd.
  • Metcon India Realty and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.
  • M I A Construction Pvt. Ltd.
  • Quality Buildcon Pvt. Ltd.
  • Sam (India) Infrastructure LLP
  • SS. SS. Constructions Pvt. Ltd.
  • YFC – BBG JV

DMRC’s Brief Scope: Comprehensive architectural finishing works at four underground stations namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai Station on Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor of Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for this package.

DC-09 is in the most-advanced stage of construction among all 3 underground packages (others are DC-07 & DC-08) of the Golden Line with Larsen & Toubro completing 4/10 planned tunnel breakthroughs. The last breakthrough by DZ1123 (TBM-2) was recorded last Saturday and images in this post of mine shows how the western shaft at Chattarpur Mandir Station currently looks like.

At this time I see commercial operations on the Golden Line starting no sooner than mid-2027. A list of Delhi Metro Phase 4’s civil & system contracts and their status can be viewed here.

Why can’t they officially Extend it upto Terminal 1(providing interchange with Magenta line)?
It would not bother the schedule anyway as this corridor is already lagging behind terribly.

No plans that I’ve heard of but that should be the next logical extension. From Sarita Vihar Depot, it’s only about 2.8 km away.

The Golden line should be extended till T1 and Noida NSEZ station. This will provide interchange options with aqua line and an alternative route connecting the two airports (and various terminals) in future.

Tunneling is yet to start from IGNOU to Neb Sarai so expect barricades at both places to remain the way they are until 2027.
