Mumbai Metro Line-6’s Station Finishing Contracts Awarded for 13 Stations

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in January awarded 3 contracts for architectural finishing work at 13 elevated stations of Mumbai Metro’s 15.18 km Line-6 (Pink Line) which will connect Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) and Vikhroli.

These 3 contracts for packages CA-264, CA-265 and CA-266 also includes installation of pre-engineered building (PEB) roof and general site development works in the vicinity of the station area.

  • Package CA-264: Awarded to SS SS Constructions (Rs. 76.68 cr) for 3 elevated stations between IIT Powai – Vikhroli EEH under construction by J Kumar Infraprojects (BC-01R1)
  • Package CA-265: Awarded to NA Construction (Rs. 124.41 cr) for 5 elevated stations between Mahakali Caves – Powai Lake under construction by MBZ – EIIL JV (BC-02R)
  • Package CA-266: Awarded to Landmark – Neev JV (Rs. 165.93 cr) for 5 elevated stations between Swami Samarth Nagar – Shyam Nagar under construction by J Kumar – CRTG JV (BC-03)

Bids for these long-delayed contracts were originally invited by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in August 2023 under packages BC-04, BC-05 & BC-06. Those tenders were cancelled and re-invited by MMRDA in August 2024. Technical and financial bids were opened in September 2024.

Each contract comes with a 24 month deadline and a ‘Notice to Proceed’ start date of February 1, 2025.

Package CA-264

MMRDA’s Brief Scope: Architectural finishing works including design, fabrication, supply, erection & roof sheeting of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures and design & construction of external facade, water supply, sanitary installation, drainage, site development works at Three (03) Elevated Stations namely IIT Powai, Kanjur Marg (W) and Vikhroli (EEH) of Mumbai Metro Line-6 Project.

Package CA-265

MMRDA’s Brief Scope: Architectural finishing works including design, fabrication, supply, erection & roof sheeting of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures and design & construction of external facade, water supply, sanitary installation, drainage, site development works at Five (05) Elevated Stations namely Maha Kali Caves, SEEPZ Village, Saki Vihar Road, Rambaug & Powai Lake of Line-6, Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (EEH) corridor of Mumbai Metro Project.

Package CA-266

MMRDA’s Brief Scope: Architectural finishing works including design, fabrication, supply, erection & roof sheeting of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures and design & construction of external facade, water supply, sanitary installation, drainage, site development works at Five (05) Elevated Stations namely Swami Samarth Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Jogeshwari (W), JVLR & Shyam Nagar of Mumbai Metro Line-06 Project.

Here’s a cool drone view of Line-6’s viaduct shot in November by Kyle D’ Souza on YouTube showing the progress made on the civil structure:

MMRDA had re-invited bids for Line-6’s 108 coach rolling stock & signaling contract (Package CA-232) in February 2024. Looking at the current progress and pending procurement of critical systems, at this point I see Mumbai’s Pink Line opening for commercial operations no sooner than Q4 2027. This is a shame since civil contracts were awarded way back in 2018-19, similar to 35.2 km Line-4/4A (Green Line) which is also dragging.

What is the status of the METRO CAR DEPOT at Kanjurmarg for Metro 6? I hope it starts soon ASAP. without it, line 6 cannot run.
