LMRCL Invites Bids for Lucknow Metro’s Amausi – Airport UG Stretch
With the Airports Authority of India finally approving the design of Lucknow Metro’s contentious Airport Station, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. has invited bids from civil infrastructure companies for the construction of a small underground section of the 22.878 km north-south line measuring roughly 1 km from the elevated Amausi Station to the underground Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport Station.
This southernmost section of Line-1 has been designated as package LKCC-05 and is the line’s 2nd underground stretch, after the 3.44 km Charbagh – KD Singh Babu Stadium section of LKCC-06, for which construction started in September 2016 by the Tata – Gülermak JV. This section includes the construction of a ramp, cut and cover tunnels, and a station box which is expected to be roughly 250 meters long.
Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) Ltd. invites Open Tenders on international competitive basis from eligible applicants from all countries and all areas, who fulfil qualification criteria as stipulated in clause 1.1.4 of NIT, for the work, “Contract-LKCC-05- Design and Construction of Cut and Cover Tunnel (approx.. length = 230m) including Ramp (approx.. length = 338m) & one underground “Airport” station at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India” – link to notice
Tender documents went on sale on December 22, 2016 and the LMRCL has estimated this section to cost Rs. 290 crores. The last date for submitting bidding documents is 3 pm on March 7, 2017 after which the bids will be opened & evaluated for eligibility at 3:05 pm.
The LMRCL has been quite efficient in conducting the tendering process and I expect the contract to be awarded by June 2017 with ground work starting by August. The LMRCL is chasing a deadline of March 2019 for opening the 3.44 km LKCC-06 and the 8.63 km LKCC-07 sections for which work recently started (see Lucknow updates), and this small section is expected to open shortly after.
To recap:
• LKCC-01 – Built by Larsen & Toubro; trial runs are in progress along with station finishing works. Scheduled opening: March 2017
• LKCC-02 – Under construction by SP Singla ; Scheduled opening: March 2017
• LKCC-05 – Bids invited (this post!)
• LKCC-06 – Under Construction by Tata – Gülermak JV since Sept 2016

With this notice out, the tendering process for the entire Line-1 has now been initiated. Line-2’s Detailed Project Report is currently being reworked and will be placed before the state government’s cabinet for approval in 2017. Bids for its civil construction are expected to be invited in the year 2018.

Great progress. What about LKCC-03 and 04? I mean why did LMRCL not use those numbers?
They used them for other work:
LKCC-03 – Depot’s construction (see some nice images here)
LKCC-04 – Architectural finishing/E&M work on 8 stations of the ‘priority corridor’ which includes LKCC-01/02
Can you confirm if TBM will be used or not?
Hi, no TBMs will be deployed. The 230m tunnel will be built using the cut and cover method using many excavators.
Please update the News of LKCC-05 Project.
Earthwork is available there in amusi airport? If yes then how can I contact with them .
