Pune Metro PCMC – Nigdi Extension’s 1st Pile Cap Cast

Workers on Saturday cast the first pile cap (foundation) for 16.589 km Pune Metro Purple Line‘s 4.519 km extension from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi.

This major milestone was recorded at PMP Anna Bhau Sathe Bus Terminal near Bhakti Shakti Chowk (view on Google Maps). It comes less than 4 months after Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) awarded Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension Package C-01’s Rs. 339.23 crore contract to Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL).

RVNL’s civil engineering subcontractor is unknown to me. If someone reading this is aware, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page.

The extension to Nigdi will consist of 151 spans and a total of 1181 segments will be cast at a yard located in Talegaon.

The construction of 4 elevated stations en route at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi and Bhakti Shakti will be carried out via a separate package for which a tender notice is currently pending.

    It is all very well. But PCMC is well connected with both railways and roadways. Actual requirements is in Hadapsar / Khedhav nagar / Kharadi where no suburban trains run nor adequate roads constructed for travel, thereby putting the travelers into lot of trouble. Pune has the worst transport network and this area is a prime example.

    It is very much required as there are huge amount of people travelling to and from nigdi and there is stress on gov. system and I am thankful to pcmc and Maharashtra government for this step. {If you need it in Hadapsar please pay the tax amount as nigdi people are paying for property tax}

    This foundation has been casted by RAIL VIKAS NIGAM LIMITED by themselves. No sub contractor was involved. Also, This package will consist of 4 stations Chnachwad, Akurdi, Nigdi and Bhakti-Shakti.

      Thanks! DDC tender’s scope said 3 stations but the more recent Proof Checking Consultant tender, shared by another follower, suggests 4 stations. DPR also says 4. I’ll post an updated map in my next post about this extension.
