STUP – RITES JV Awarded Pune Metro Extension’s Design Contract DDC-03

STUP Consultants – RITES JV last Friday was awarded a Rs. 2.92 crore contract to provide Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) services for Pune Metro’s Phase 1 Extension (Phase 1A) project.

STUP – RITES JV’s scope for Package DDC-03 involves designing 13 new elevated stations on Pune Metro’s Aqua Line (Line-2) which will be extended in either direction. Two of those stations will be built on the line’s 1.12 km western extension (Line-2A) between Vanaz – Chandni Chowk, while eleven stations will be built on the line’s 11.63 km eastern extension (Line-2B) between Ramwadi – Wagholi.

Maharashtra’s state government had approved both extensions’ construction in March 2024 with an estimated cost of Rs. 3756.58 crore. STUP – RITES JV’s role will include producing and proposing alternate designs of all civil, architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works.

MahaMetro had invited bids for Package DDC-03 in July 2023 with a 4 year contract duration and an unknown estimate which I hear might be Rs. 2.36 crore. Technical bids were opened in August-end to reveal 3 bidders, and evaluation was completed on October 7 to reveal 2 bidders had qualified and 1 was disqualified.

Final Contract Value: Rs. 2,92,50,000 (excl. GST)

MahaMetro’s Brief Scope: Detailed Design Consultancy Services for 2 (Two) Elevated Stations in Line 2A-Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and for 11 (Eleven) Elevated Stations in Line 2B-Ramwadi to Wagholi excluding Viaduct in station portions of Pune Metro Rail Project.

Stations on Vanaz – Chandni Chowk Extension (2): Kothrud Bus Depot & Chandni Chowk

Stations on Ramwadi – Wagholi Extension (11): Viman Nagar, Somnath Nagar, Kharadi Bypass, Tulaja Bhavani, Ubale Nagar, Upper Kharadi Raod, Wagheswar Temple, Wagholi, Siddharth Nagar, Bakori Phata and Vitthalwadi

I’ve mapped out all 13 new stations of the Aqua Line on Google Maps over here and will adjust their locations as satellite imagery of their sites becomes visible in 2026ish.

With this development, Maha-Metro’s team of three DDCs for the Phase 1 Extension project is now finalized. The other two DDCs will work on the Purple Line’s extension:

• DDC-01: Detailed Design Consultant for 3 elevated stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi – awarded to LKT Engineering
• DDC-02R: Detailed Design Consultant for architectural and E&M Services and proof checking of Swargate to Katraj corridor – awarded to PINI Group
