Godrej & Starworth Awarded Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s Finishing Work

Per the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL)’s updated tender page, the operator on November 2 awarded Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. and Starworth Infrastructure & Construction Ltd. with contracts to complete architectural finishing works at 23 stations of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project.

All 23 stations are under different stages of construction by ITD Cementation (India) Ltd. through 4 civil contracts awarded in 2017 for the Purple Line’s 15.257 km eastern extension (Reach 1A & 1B) to Whitefield and 12.803 km Bommasandra – HSR Layout section (Reach 5 – P1 & P2) on the new 19.143 km Yellow Line connecting RV Road – Silkboard – Bommasandra.

BMRCL re-invited bids for both packages in June. Their estimate, completion period and the financial bid values of all bidders are unknown at this time.

This is Godrej’s third recent win for finishing works of metro stations in India. Other contracts include 2 stations for Kochi Metro’s Phase 1A and 9 stations on Mumbai Metro’s Line-2A.

BMRCL hasn’t revealed the design for these upcoming new stations, so it’ll be interesting to see if they’ll be any different than the unimaginative and dull ones on the Green Line’s 6.29 km Reach 4B between Yelachenahalli and Anjanapura where Godrej was also the contractor.

Recent images of how these stations look like can be viewed on my Twitter page where I’ve posted or retweeted images shared by followers. Some examples:

With these 2 contracts awarded, local residents along these two significant stretches should start seeing architectural finishing works beginning in Q1 2021 at stations where civil work is complete and ready for hand-over.

TMRG, what’s the status of Kadugodi Depot?. I saw some pics of them and I saw that there are so many trees that are yet to be removed from the site. Is BMRCL is facing some legal issues on them?
