Linxon Wins Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s Power Supply Contract

Linxon announced on Monday they’ve been awarded the complete power supply package including 750V DC third rail electrification for Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s two new lines.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) had invited bids for this traction package in March 2020. BMRCL’s estimate and the contract’s final value remains unknown. I’ll add it in here when released.

Linxon is a joint venture of Hitachi ABB Power Grids & SNC-Lavalin. Prior to this, they were awarded Kochi Metro Phase 1B’s power supply contract in August 2020.

With this development, BMRCL has almost completed awarding all system contracts for Bangalore Metro’s Yellow Line. Winners are now pending for its stations’ escalators and Hebbagodi Depot’s Machinery & Plants (M&P) contracts. Just this past week, BMRCL invited bids for its Automatic Train Wash Plant.

Here’s a list of the Yellow Line’s major system vendors / contractors:

Simplex Infrastructure contract is terminated and there’s no update about re-tendering the section . BG-Road to Nagavara will be last line to be completed but no less than 5 years sure .

Hi, looking at a 2027 final opening right now.

Tendering is underway for its civil construction right now. Current deadline for submitting bids is April 2 with technical bids opening on April 3.

        Hey, thanks for the reply!

but the deadline set by BMRCL is around 2024-25 right? moreover 90% of the land has been acquired, only the runaway near the yelhanka (Jakkur aerodrome I guess) might be the problem!

They’ll likely announced a new revised deadline when the Central Government’s approval comes through.

This is a fairly long line. BYP Depot will undergo a remodel and a new depot near the airport will be setup to support ops.

What a delay! 2027 is pathetic – Considering Airport and ORR metro is crucial for passenger movements for Airport and to IT HUB area in the ORR stretch.
