Sudhir Power Wins Delhi Metro Phase 4’s 1st JICA Contract

March 5 Update: Sudhir Power Projects has been awarded DE-01’s Rs. 123.07 crore contract.

January 21 Original Post:

Sudhir Power Projects on Tuesday emerged as the lowest bidder for Delhi Metro Phase 4’s first of 44 civil & system packages which will be funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This particular contract of the 65.1 km project deals with electrical & mechanical (E&M) works including fire suppression and diesel generator sets at the elevated viaducts of the 12.098 km Pink Line between Mukundpur and Maujpur, 19.85 km Magenta Line between Keshopur and Ashok Vihar, augmented Mukundpur Depot (expanded portion will house Magenta Line’s train-sets), and electrical works at new PWD flyovers en-route.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for it in October 2020 with an estimate of Rs 107.72 crore and completion period of 36 months. Technical bids were opened on December 22, 2020 to reveal 3 bidders.

Sudhir Power’s bid was roughly 19% higher than DMRC’s estimate, so this will go into a retender if negotiations to bring down its final contract value fail.

As I shared earlier – out of the 44 JICA-funded packages, I’m most looking forward to the last 4 civil packages (1 for Magenta Line and 3 for Silver Line), train-control and signaling package (DS-06) for the Silver Line, and the 288 coach (RS-17) rolling stock package. Tender notices for all of these are still pending.
