Bangalore Metro’s Kadugodi Depot Takes Shape in Whitefield
After facing multiple blockers over the past couple years, Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project’s crucial Kadugodi Depot is finally taking shape with visible site development works for the depot’s structures.
This train maintenance depot on the 15.257 km Baiyyappanahalli – Whitefield extension of the Purple Line, along with the Challaghatta Depot, will in the future service and stable all trains on the 42.17 km line.
The depot’s Rs. 159.89 crore construction contract was awarded Vascon Engineers Ltd. in October 2019. Construction work couldn’t start due to the pending land transfer of 18.11 hectares (44.75 acres) from MoEFCC, which finally came through in December 2019. Work was then affected by pending approval from Karnataka government’s ‘expert committee’ to cut 120 trees.
When this depot becomes operational in the 2nd half of 2023, the Purple Line’s existing Baiyyappanahalli Depot will be repurposed to serve Phase 2A and Phase 2B project’s 56 km Blue Line (Silkboard – KR – Puram – Hebbal – Airport) which is now under construction.
Per the depot’s layout in the tender documents, it’ll consist of 24 stabling lines, 4 inspection lines, 4 workshop/repair lines and a 310 m test track.

What Happen to CRRC 216 Coach rolling stock tender. I’ve heard that CRRC is failed to find any Indian Components to start Manufacturing. Either they didn’t find any or the Indian Companies refuse to work with them. Any updates on that?
Crrc has fooled all of us in India..they did bhoomi puja for new plant at sri city 2 times.. don’t know what is preventing them to start manufacturing there

Sri City is in AP. It’s not easy to start any manufacturing industry in AP at present.
Why r u spreading lies and half data . In Sricity this year alone 4 major AC manufacturing plants started and 3 big companies expanded and u r telling it is difficult.. either u r negative minded guy or have hate on andhra

Read Deccan Herald News. For Make in India, it needs partnership with Indian companies. Since due to the pandemic No Indian company likes to Join Hands with Chinese, the Coach Manufacturing became a Failure
Will post an update when something happens.
If this depot opens up end of 2023, then does it affect biyappanahalli Whitefield metro line completion? Or you expect both depot and line to open end of 2023?
If it becomes operational, BMRCL will be able to start ops between KR Puram and Whitefield without having to wait on the Tin Factory gap.
The way things are going, they’ll open BYP-Whitefield in one go, move all trains to Kadugodi and begin repurposing BYP depot.
Oh, then we can expect the Whitefield stretch to only open around end of 2023? So much delay..
@TMRG, so you expect Whitefield line to be operational only end of 2023?
Yup. 2nd half of 2023.
No. They said that once the Benniganahalli Viaduct is done between Bayappanahalli and KJM, they will commence operations since Q1/Q2 2023

Hi TMRG, looks like MahaRail has finally uploaded an EoI for the Pune Nashik SHSR, for empanelment of civil contractors to build stations and other civil works for the line.
https://www.maharail.com/empanelment_consultant.php
Thanks so much, I saw this 🙂 EOI is time-pass. Just an exercise to see which companies are interested in bidding. Waiting for actual tender notices to get published.
What’s that line poking out in the west connected to nothing for?
I guess that’s the test track
Exactly
Any update on Challaghatta and Hebbagodi Depots??
Work on the depot silk institute- Kanakapura end- on the green line has halted for long. Even after change in contractor. Any update and light ahead?
2. Rumours about extension of green line up to Art of Living ashram. Is this authentic? BMRCL should consider it seriously. Their revenues and cash flow will increase tremendously and help in their ROI on the additional investment. The extension distance is about 8 kms, needing 4 new stations. GOK requested to take it up.
