November 9, 2022 Update: DMRC has issued LOAs to Voestalpine with contract values of Rs. 26,68,93,651 (Package DT-06) and Rs. 18,21,61,371 (Package DT-07).

August 14, 2022 Original Post: Voestalpine VAE VKN India is the lowest bidder to manufacture and supply UIC-60 turnouts and scissor crossovers for 2 contracts of the 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project.

The scope of the first package DT-06 includes deliveries for the Magenta Line’s 28.92 km extension (Janakpuri West – R.K. Ashram), while the second package DT-07 includes deliveries for the new 23.62 km Silver Line (Aerocity – Tughlakabad) and 12.58 km Pink Line extension (Mukundpur – Maujpur).

These turnouts and crossovers will allow Delhi Metro’s rolling stock (288 new coaches being procured) to guide from one track line to another.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) invited tenders for both systems contracts in February 2022 with unknown estimates and 540 day (1.47 year) deadlines. Technical bids were opened in April for DT-06 and in May for DT-07 to reveal 2 bidders – Voestalpine VAE VKN India and Vossloh Cogifer.

I don’t have bid values for either company. If someone does, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’d like to add it in here for record keeping.

Over the past year, Voestalpine has beaten Vossloh at least twice to win similar contracts for Delhi – Meerut RRTS and Agra & Kanpur metro projects.
