Information

Mumbai Metro’s Yellow Line (Line 2A & Line 2B) is a 42.20 km partionally operational elevated metro line connecting Dahisar East with Mandale through 39 stations.

The first 9.5 km Phase 1 of the Yellow Line was inaugurated on April 2, 2022 and opened to the public the same day to connect Dahisar East and Dahanukarwadi (Kamraj Nagar) via 10 stations. Its second Phase (Kamraj Nagar – Andheri West) was inaugurated on January 19, 2023.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is the owner of the Yellow Line. A new nodal agency called Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation (MMMOCL) was established in June 2019 to operate and maintain services on all lines owned by the MMRDA.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is the implementing agency of the line through a formally signed agreement between MMRDA & DMRC in 2015.

The Yellow Line is partly being financed through official development assistance (ODA) loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and New Development Bank (NDB). Its foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in October 2015, J Kumar Infraprojects won contracts for 2 civil packages of its first section in July 2016, and construction work commenced in November 2016.

Yellow Line will be connected to other metro lines, bus and suburban rail services through multiple interchanges throughout its route. Along the way, 3 “iconic” bridges are planned at to be constructed at BKC Entry, Vakola Nalla Crossing and Mithi River Crossing.

The line’s official colour was revealed to the public on February 28, 2020 as part of a major branding exercise to establish style guidelines with help from Systra MVA Consulting.

Mumbai Metro Line-2A is expected to be completed and opened in February 2023.
